Frequently Asked Questions
Cody is AI-powered coding editor that is purpose-built for enterprise software development. It combines familiar editing workflows with Syncfusion’s 1,900 + battle-tested UI components, letting you assemble apps faster, generate code, refactor, write tests, and debug—all while keeping risks and costs under control.
• Framework-first approach – instead of generating tens of thousands of new lines, Cody assembles apps from proven Syncfusion building blocks to minimize bugs, IP exposure, and maintenance.
• Transparent model choice – you can point Cody to any hosted model (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, etc.), bring your own API key, or run a local LLM for maximum privacy.
• UI Builder & component awareness – Cody understands Syncfusion controls out of the box and can generate complete UIs with a single prompt.
• Enterprise features (coming soon) – SOC 2 compliance, role-based access control, audit logging, and upcoming centralized admin make it production-ready from day one.
• Straightforward pricing – no token mark-ups or opaque tiers; pay only for seats and, if you wish, for the model usage you consume.
The Syncfusion Cody Editor is completely free for all users, with charges applying only for the Cody Enterprise Server.
Here's the current pricing structure:
• Free Tier – Individuals or companies with less than USD 1 million in annual revenue and fewer than 5 developers can use Cody free of charge, including enterprise-grade functionality. (BYO-key supported)
• Pro Plan – $9.95 per user/month. Adds features like SSO, user management, and pooled LLM credits (or BYO-key).
• Enterprise License – Flat, company-wide pricing. Includes priority support, enhanced security, and on-premises deployment.
All tiers support Bring Your Own Key (BYO-key), so you pay your LLM provider directly—no Syncfusion markup on usage costs.
* Enterprise server features will be available latter part of July 2025
You certainly can—but Cody focuses on component-level UI generation, local or self-hosted model support, built-in cost controls, and tight integration with Syncfusion’s full control suite. It’s the same editing experience, augmented for large, business-critical apps.
No. Cody runs perfectly without a Syncfusion UI license. You’ll still get chat, edit, agent, and autocomplete modes. A Syncfusion license simply unlocks UI Builder and direct access to the 1,900 + controls—handy, but not required.
Yes. Cody indexes your existing repository, understands cross-file dependencies, and can refactor or extend huge codebases without losing context. Its agent mode can even automate multi-file changes while preserving your project’s structure and tests.
If you're using a basic account with OpenAI or Anthropic, their token and request rate limits are quite low. This may cause frequent rate limit errors, especially when using Agent Mode, which requires more requests.
To avoid this, we recommend using OpenRouter for testing. OpenRouter does not enforce strict rate limits, allowing smoother testing and usage of Agent functionalities.
The Cody Enterprise Server—which includes advanced deployment and administrative features—will be available in the latter part of July 2025.
